# Better/simpler rich text URL functionality

The current URL functionality in a rich text field is very cumbersome to use. I’d love to see it simplified I think that would be achieved with 3 adjustments.

1. after you highlight the text and click the link icon the cursor should automatically switch to the URL pop out
2. remove the default https://. My users are exclusively copy and pasting URLs so it just adds an extra step having to delete that. When they fail to it creates a bad URL with [https://https](https://https)://
3. Once the URL is saved, clicking anywhere else on the page should close the pop out. Currently, only clicking in the text field closes it which can be trouble some if you have a large URL that covers the field you have to scroll to be able to click on an empty spot in the field.

I’d like to bring this up again as it causes regular issues for my users both young and old. URLs are often not entered correctly.
