I love the comments component but don’t want the users to interact with it. Is there any way to turn off the ability to add a comment?
I want to use it as an activity log that gets updated by workflows.

Interesting suggestion @Kieran
Would you want this to be controllable on a role-basis, or simply a switch on the component to control whether comments can be added?
If anyone else has a similar use-case I’d love to hear it
Hey @darragh
I could work with both, and as I have your attention a way to configure the automatic email content when mentioning someone would be great as well.
I would love to have both
As we are adding more activity we would love to record certain activities. I have done this in one instance, where I have created a log table in Airtable where stuff gets recorded.
Activity logs will get increasingly important for us.
A simple table with “user”, “date/time”, “collection”, “table” and one long text field, where the activity could be aggregated. If the whole thing could be action items for action buttons?
Yes, I know I could build this as a Noloco table as well. But perhaps Activity Logs could be a “Feature”, as I am sure you have your own activity log running in the background already?
I would love to have the activity log as a feature as well, rather than implementing workarounds by using Noloco tables or comments.
Thanks for all the feedback folks!
A native activity log is certainly on our radar - there’s bit of discussion about it already:
Would be fantastic to be able to list all comments separately without having to use the comment form
I haven’t gotten to the spot where we are using comments frequently yet but will be implementing shortly. Are comments currently visible for all users on a specific record or are they unique to the specific page that is displayed?
We are going to have 3 tiers of users: Our internal team, our customers (businesses and their staff), and then their clients as well.
If the comments are page specific that’s great but if they are visible on all page views for a record we would want the ability to turn them on and off based on permissions
Again, just getting into Noloco and building things out over the last month so I haven’t really dug into the comment permissions / settings yet
