Allow Public Viewing
I’ve been loving Noloco’s embeddable forms feature – it’s been a game-changer for collecting data from external users. But I think we could take this concept even further: what if we could create entire Public Pages, not just forms? This would allow us to share rich, dynamic content with a wider audience without requiring viewers to sign in. Here’s why I think extending our current embeddable functionality to full pages would be amazing:
Use Cases
- Real Estate Property Listings
- Create individual landing pages for each property
- Display property details, images, and virtual tours
- Use existing form feature for viewing requests
- Proposal Software
- Generate personized proposal pages using client data
- Include pricing tables and relevant case studies
- Leverage current forms for proposal acceptance
- Event Management
- Create public event pages with existing registration forms
- Display real-time ticket availability and pricing
- Showcase speaker bios and session schedules
- Product Catalogs
- Build dynamic product pages with live inventory info
- Implement filtering and search functionality
- Use current form feature for “request a quote” on out-of-stock items
- Portfolio Showcases
- Create visually appealing portfolios for creatives
- Organize work by categories or projects
- Utilize existing forms for service requests
- Knowledge Bases
- Develop public-facing help centers and FAQs
- Create searchable product documentation
- Extend current form functionality for user feedback
Key Features to Extend
- Customizable Templates: Expand form templates to full page layouts
- Dynamic Content: Connect to Noloco database for real-time page updates
- Enhanced Access Control: Extend form security features to entire pages
- Advanced Analytics: Build on form tracking to include page view analytics
- SEO Optimization: Improve search engine visibility of our public content
Why This Extension Matters
- Reach a Wider Audience: Build on form accessibility to share full content
- Generate More Leads: Expand data collection beyond just forms
- Flexibility: Adapt our existing embeddable tech to various industry needs
- Cost-Effective: Leverage and extend current Noloco features
Extending our embeddable forms to full Public Pages would be a huge win for the Noloco community. It would open up so many possibilities for how we use the platform and help us create even more value for our customers and visitors, all while building on the great foundation we already have with embeddable forms.
This would be an incredible feature and very useful for me.
We’ve just had a request like this from a client also.
This is where I got stuck with a client who wants a newsfeed/blog app that can be viewed without login.
A nice workaround if we couldn’t do fully public pages would be magic links only that stayed with a user (not a new one each time they go to login) so we could just send them a link and they’re technically logged in, but all they know is they had to click a link or a button and they got to where they needed without having to input a password or go to the site then to their email to get the magic link.
That would work for some use cases, but nowadays most website apps, specially the successful ones, are a mix of both private/login data & publicly available at the same time.
An example is amazon, with public listings, and login for the transactional data.
We also have a client who requires this feature, they’re currently using Airtable’s public interfaces but have limitations in terms of AT’s interface features that are easily resolvable in Noloco but they need the pages to be publicly visible
That’s very interesting @EthosLuke - would you mind sharing slightly more details about the use-case and the features they’d be looking for?
No problem, I’ll send in a DM
This is a key part of our use case @darragh were I have a community and the Directory is crucial to being visible by members, while I have backend access to modify the database and trigger workflow automations
Right now we are doing this in Google Sheets (Publicly Visible but not editable) + AppScripts and it’s working great
But wanted to move to NoLoco so we could duplicate my build and sell to other Community Leaders
Thanks for sharing @Sebastian100 !
We hope to be able to share news on this soon!
Thanks for the swift response! @darragh do you have an estimated timeline?
Adding my support for this here too.
We’ve started building in for Client project management and it’s awesome so far but this is an issue we come against a far bit.
Example use cases:
- creating dynamic landing page content eg quote page urls for clients to accept or deal rooms for longer deals. Obv when they are in the system in a portal it can be done there. But the intial proposal / quote or a one off project needs public viewing.
- sharing dynamic content with non users - eg an asset for feedback - sometimes there’s a need to share beyond the users to get public feedback. Getting someone to sign up / in is a friction point. At the moment we push this through a combo of fill out forms and softr through to Airtable - with internal users managing it in noloco
At the moment we supplement noloco with softr and other tools this reason. Softr for example allows you to create dynamic public pages which we’ve successfully deployed for the above use cases.
The other (related) key feature that’s needed in the above use cases is more design customisation - ie being able to change colours and themes of noloco pages a little more - again possible in softr which is a plus.
I much prefer no loco to softr so if the gap here can be bridged it would be awesome
Thanks @Taylor !
Great examples of what you could do with public pages and public apps!
Keep an eye on this thread, we’ll have some news to share really soon!
