So I need my clients to be able to upload files. Can they only be attached to records?
I feel like this is the big hangup I have before launching is knowing how on my side i’m going to find their uploads in one local space.
Any ideas how to achieve this?
Can you tell us a bit more about your use case @SuitcaseDesigns ?
Would a Make/Zapier solution work here, where the uploaded file also gets sent to a shared Google Drive?
Sure. We design websites and i want to use my client portal as more of a project collaboration/management tool. The way it looks right now i’m turning off file uploads for everything but a work request form so the files all end up in one place. Having files be allowed ot be attached to comments and forms and elsewhere seems like they all go to different places. Am i right?
When you say “in one place” here, you mean in the same record right?
Comments are associated with individual records, so I guess the files are linked to those records too?
For forms, each new submission creates a new record in that table it’s associated with, so any attached files can be found there
So, yeah…they’ll be in a few different place I think. It makes sense I think to keep everything in the work requests, maybe even giving some limited edit-access to the record to allow users to upload additional/revised files if needed?
OK. keeping everything in the work request and disabling uploads on comments and stuff may be my best bet to stay organized. Thank you!
