Some Information upfront: We use Airtable as our database, and I’m not sure if this affects others who use the Noloco DB in the same way.
Until now, files in attachment fields were in the order they were uploaded. If I changed the order of the files in Airtable (sadly, Noloco does not support reordering files), this change would be visible in Noloco.
This functionality was critical for us because processing incoming invoices and passing them onto our accounting software is an important process within our Noloco app.
Our accounting software only accepts one file per invoice record, but they often have additional documents like timesheets, etc attached. This is why it was important to move the actual invoice PDF to the front.
Until now, the (slightly painful) process involved downloading all files, deleting them, and then uploading them again in the right order.
Since this was not very efficient, we were also planning to automate the reordering process soon.
However, with this latest update, our whole process has been severely compromised. Users in Noloco apps now have no way of knowing the true order of files in the attachment field.
You can still download the files and re-upload them in the correct order, but there’s no way to verify if the order is indeed correct. Automatically reordering them is now out of the question as well since users cannot confirm the correct order at all.
Please either undo this change or provide us with the option to turn off this automatic sorting. It is quite frustrating that this change has been made without the option to keep the functionality as it was.
Thank you.
ps: I am aware that we could just make two attachment fields, one for the Invoice and one for the other files. However in many cases users need to quickly jump between invoices and the additional files, to verify data. Having them in two fields would make this much more difficult. Furthermore we have some automations that automatically process those files further, adding a second attachment field would disrupt existing processes that are working perfectly fine.
