(Collection) Small Improvement Ideas for UI & UX

Hi everyone,

Thanks @darragh for the recent Updates on the UI!

Its also exciting to see that feedback and suggestions are welcomed and implemented! I found myself often noticing small things about the ui/ux that could be optimised but often those things were rather small details that didn’t seem to justify a whole topic. So I decided to pool them here. Feel free to add your own obviously!

  1. Click Element → Tab “Options” open by default
When I click an Element, eg. a details element, the standard tab for editing is “Visibility”. I feel like it even used to be different before… could you set the “Options” tab as the default?
90% of the time I want to edit the options (or field) of the Element, not the visibility settings.
Side Idea: Display Options, Fields and visibility below each other as collapsable menu items. Seeing Options and Fields at the same time would make things more efficient.

  2. Notifications: Align Text
I like using Notifications as Header for sections (integrated buttons) but unfortunately the Subtitle doesnt get aligned if you don’t use the Title field. ( I use the subtitle field for Headings because you can use H1-3.3.

Side idea: I dont think its possible right now to turn off the icon completely. Would be nice if that was possible too.

4. reset Searchfield with click
When Setting up fields in a Detail or List compoment I like use the search to find the right field. It works well but if you want to go back to seeing all fields you need to mark the text and delete it. It would be quicker if there was an clear button, that way you can go back with one click.

  1. Hide Elements on Page
Trying between two differend Headline Elements right now and noticed that it would be nice if it was possible to hide Elements without deleting them

Thats the one that were on my List right now. Will probably add more soon :>

Thanks for the suggestions @_4N
Some very valid points there

Add Element Buttons within Containers

Currently its a bit fiddly to add Elements to a Container. Maybe some buttons for that right on the Canvas could be an option?

One Big one on empty Containers and a smaller one that appears on hover if there are Elements on the container already. Like the Pages Menu.
Ideally also in a way that you can add Elements in between existing ones.

We have this option in the left sidebar, which gives you much easier control over ordering and structure of containers

Yes, but I concur: The closer the “actionable buttons” are to where your are working (on the page) the faster and easier it becomes. The left sidebar can become rather confusing once you have several containers with numerous elements in each. Especially since all the dame element types have the same name.
