Scroll to top behaviour of Split layout

This jump-active-to-top behaviour was one of the biggest nuisances reported from users that I ran research interviews with last week.

In terms of UX, having any element – especially navigation, move unexpectedly is a pain.

Is it worth a re-think? If you are just intending to keep the active record visible, why not use position:sticky?

100% +1 on this! Have reported this previously after users gave feedback, but was mixed in with a related request:

Another small item related to this, there’s a strange action that happens in the following scenario:

  1. you are in split view and have an existing record in view (Record A) AND you have a ‘create new’ button active.
  2. when you create new, go to the form, fill it out and it creates the new record (Record B)…
  3. the logical thing is it would then go back to the split view with the NEW record (Record B) you just created in view… but what happens is it will just go back to the original record, (Record A).

Could possibly fix this manually by setting the destination in the form, but yea
