When adding, changing, or removing data from fields with in-line editing turned on (especially in collections, although it’s also unreliable in detail elements), the data erases some letters, or removes itself entirely, then it comes back, or it stays away, then you retype and as you retype it pops back up but only partially, then you backspace it, then you enter it in again, then it glitches more.
In some collections, it’s a little more stable, especially if less fields are present. But even then, it can occur. It’s almost debilitating for UX workflows heavy on data-editing. This has been my experience ever since I discovered Noloco a couple years ago, and this has been reinforced by two of my clients now. One has long since echoed this experience, and another told me the other day that they literally “hate” this about Noloco.
This is more than a quality-of-life issue, IMO. This is “completeness of feature” level stuff. For example, if I make a string of edits in an in-line-edit-heavy UI, I have to spend 5-20 seconds working through all the weird glitches before I can click away in confidence. Compare that to other platforms, like Glide, where I make an in-line edit change and know it is immediately saved, successfully, every time, 100%, and I can just click away–without anything being undone, or partially undone, or disappearing, or re-adding itself
This same kind of glitchy behavior in Noloco is experienced elsewhere too: workflow names, workflow descriptions, workflow step titles and descriptions, title/subtitle elements, text elements, etc.
Thank you incredible team for taking my raw feedback, and as always it is shared in love <3

Edit: @darragh - I noticed your comment here, perhaps this is still in the roadmap!
Yes +1 from me. I really hope this gets fixed soon, it is currently causing a lot of frustration for our internal users.
We also tried to onboard some external users so they can edit certain reports themselves - But we had to abandon this plan altogether because of how unreliable inline editing is.
We also have a lot of issues with selecting linked records in detail fields. A lot of times, the selected record just disappears again a few seconds later.
We have two users in the office who do a lot of data entry and assigning things and their overall feedback is that it is basically impossible to have any kind of smooth workflow with the app at the moment.
edit: If inline editing would work like in the new data grid that would be quite awesome! Hope this can be archived
Having the features of the data table available in the app will be a great upgrade! I hope features like “find column” and “filter” will be included in that. A grouping feature in the data table would also be a game-changer.
Another thing to consider as part of the roadmap (if is not already) is field editing permissions. So if a table is displayed and in-line cell editing is enabled, each field will definitely need its own permission settings.
Even today, field that work well with in-line editing are not always an option for us, because it allows ALL users who can see that element to be able to edit. Today we just have to use action buttons instead. Action buttons also address @buildwithjoel ‘s commend about the bugginess, as sometimes a notification automation is run on an incomplete edit.
We have a field for Foregn Exchange conversion, which is displayed when an invoice in a foreign currency is created, then the USD amount is entered by our team when the funds hit our bank. Yesterday, when typing in the Forex converted amount, a slack automation (from Airtable) was send saying the value was $1, because it was triggered on just the first digit being entered. So we had to turn off in-line editing on that field and move to an action button - which works well, but slows the users down A LOT.
Looking forward to the future improvements as they come!
